I would freaking love it if I were wrong, but I may actually be correct. I tried softmodding my xbox (Stupid ass me) and was successful, thinking, I didn't want to ruin this xbox, I unmodded it and and successfully got rid of any trace of Softmodding. Well, somehow I went back to the linux thing just to go over what I would know what I would be doing, I get tired, so I go back to Mechassault just to be sure I didn't fusk anything up so I could turn off my xbox properly. Well, I turn on my xbox to listen to music, and Boom, Kernel 13 error. I was like WTF? So I turned it back on, and still the same thing. So looking for help, I find that the Slayer install file would help, finally acquiring that, I get it and burn it properly to many kinds of discs. No luck, so after this, I find out about Hotswapping. To my avail, nothing as well. I hear about the Xbox Live update thing from an XBL enabled game, I try that, and all I get is a "Could not connect to XBL, would to like to start the troubleshooter?" I would do that, and it would either restart the game or leave it at a black screen because I didn't have a Dashboard. I really need to know how to get everything back onto my xbox. I would like to know how to at least get the menu. I could care less about the sounds. I just want something to go to when i turn on my xbox without getting an error. I did back up the MS dashboard when I first modded it, just to be clear.
13 - kernel - Dashboard launch fail (due to missing/bad key, or anything else that would prevent it from running) and the dashboard didn't specify why it failed. The error it gives is because of the incompatibility between the (older) dashboard (4920) that older slayer cd installs and the new dashboard/kernel versions found in some new xbox's and found in xbox's that have been connected to xbox live (when you go on xbox-live, it'll upgrade your dashboard file to i believe it is now 5659.03. This dasboard is incompatible with the dash that (old) slayer cd installs (for example 2.5 or lower) for you. (In detail, in the eeprom chip there is a kernel which is incompatible with the dashboard (4920) that slayer installs.) So what do you do to fix it? You can use the dashupdate found on most new xbox games! Be sure to 1st unplug your ethernet cable before you do so!!! Besides that, just use a good installation disc and all is fine. Use a 2.6 slayer or something similar
I'm not sure if you saw or not, but I have no way of connecting to XBL, this doesn't do anything for me. I tried Doom 3 which is from 2005. When I sign in to XBL, it says that it cannot connect to XBL. I already did that "Unplug your ethernet cord before you do that" Thing. Doesn't work. Would you kindly specify which games have a dash update option?
I tried Whacked! and it didn't work. I highly doubt the autoupdate thing even works. What else exactly do you guys think you can come up with to help me out? I was hesitant to make a post about this Xbox repair because of how many idea's you guys may have on fixing it, but until then, I doubt there is any way to fix it. I am not spending a lot of money sending it to someone to fix it. No money for that matter. Edit: I don't think my xbox is missing the update file, there isn't any way, I think the reason why I cannot get anything out of XBL updates is due to the fact that the IP is static.
Ok, I figured out what is wrong with the xbox. I recieved a broken xbox off of ebay and fixed it. Then I tried to see what I had done to maybe mess up my xbox. I realized that I ran the EEE thing trying to see if it would install the dashboard. Is there anyway to fix it now? I'm thinking there isn't because I have a friend who has the same thing done to his xbox and he doesn't have an MS Dashboard, just an EvoX. Please reply, I would really like to fix this xbox so that I may mod it so I can have a modded xbox.
are you still at error 13? or you have evox load now? if you still have error 13 then do the hotswap. it will fix it.
I tried the hotswap method a few days ago, but I may have done it wrong. I know that when the PC starts up, you have to let it read the drivers, but after that, do you use the CMD to do the rest?
I read them, but they do not specify the exact IDE cable. What is it? There's no way its the second because it will not fit into my HDD...
ok on the motherboard of pc, it has 2 IDE ports: primary and secondary. - primary ide is for PC hdd and 1 dvd drive. - secondary ide will connect xbox hdd only. So you have an IDE cable. one end connect to secondary ide port. the other end is free.
I have never built a PC. I would like to, but I wouldn't know where to start. I see two motherboard IDE's a blue one, and a white one, which do I take out so I can Hotswap?
Just tell me, I know more than you think I do... Edit: I know how to build an xbox all back together, so I am not technologically retarded.
