you haven't mentioned what convertion program you are using to put those AVIs into DVD format for burning?! I would use ConvertXtoDVD:
    http://www.vso-software.fr/products/convert_x_to_dvd/
try the free trial..... it does leave a watermark on the final result but I would use an RW disk and see if it works for you! It's a great program to have and it might just fix your problem!

if you are putting AVI files on your DVD disk then it is in data format? use a conversion program so it will play in most players not just on the computer! Please explain what you are doing so a more intelligent and in depth answer to your problem can be found!

I don't know what you are talking about! ConvertXToDVD does not take 5 hours to convert a movie! what kind of computer do you have?

let me guess you are not riping the dvd's from a dvd right? you are downloading the avi files from a site right? if you are having problems with the quailty, get in touch with the site that you downloaded the files from and tell them that you are having a problem with the quailty of the files that you got from them, and they might give your money back for them ok? also dose your standalone dvd player support dvix files? and there are programs that you can buy that will help if the voice and audio are not to bad off, good luck, also like ihoe said vso dvixtodvd is a great converter for doing this. limewire is verry bad for the quailty of the files that are shared, i know of a great way to solve your problem! you might just buy the movies and then back them up that way you know that you will have a good source for your backups ok?

Personally I convert the sound seperately from the video, and then use the newly created sound track for the audio when converting. This results in perfect sound every time.

One ridiculously easy way is to open the AVI file in virtualdub and then save the audio as a WAV. Use this new WAV as your source for the audio instead of the original when you do the conversion.

ok the movie Zathura when i burnt it was not syronized and so now i tried using the virtualdub you told me and when i took the file something popped up AVI: Variable bitrate(VBR) audio detected. VBR audio in AVI is non-standard and you may encounter sync errors up to 131433ms when attempting to extract WAV files or processing the audio in Direct Stream Copy mode. Full Processing mode is recommended to decompress or recompress the audio. (bitrate: 159.1+ or - 32.1kbps) so what do i do? Can anyone help me out here caz i dont really understand what to do.

Turkey....... you have to consider...... Garbage in ..... Garbage out....... that's what happens with corrupted downloads. That's why I never download anything from Limewire! Can't rely on it!
