My Question is I have two IDE Western digital HD's. The Master IDE is my OS at 200 GB's and Slave at 40 GB's. I have a new Western Digital SATA II 200 GB HD in my bios it shows it there. In windows it doesn't. I tried XP Setup. Partionmagic as well. I want my SATA to be my OS. The IDE's to be a back-up. Please can you help me with this minor problem?

Try unplugging the IDE drives, just using the SATA and installing windows on it. Once you're done, check windows loads, then set the jumpers on the IDE drives to slaves, then plug them in to use as data hard disks. You might want to remove the "/windows" folder on the old OS one once you're done to free more space.

sata driver has to be loaded. when installing xp, it asks for 3rd party drivers & press f6. so have copy of sata driver ready on disk.
