I hope its not broke

my cd rom/dvd rom wont read. i put a disk in and nothing happens no programs pull up....nothing. do you think it needs to be cleaned. also cd's wont play.

 

 ... Try another disc ... If that doesn't work, try a cleaning disc ...

 

see if it will boot up using add programs ( by clicking it)
if its still not working i would say yiur DVD-ROM is shot
if you tryed cleaning it and all

 

Your autoload may not be working - try loading/opening your cd/dvd manually.

 

Do you have AnyDVD running in the background? If so, try turning it off, and see if that makes a difference. I had that problem, but with just two movies. Not ALL discs.
