Okay, from what I understand it's supposed to be completely plug and play. My DS Lite doesn't recognize the card though. Neither does my sisters or my friends. I've tried two different MicroSDHC cards. a 2GB and an 8GB both formatted to FAT 32. It just says "there is no DS card inserted" or something similar to that. Am I missing something or what?
You have to install the firmware! No cart is plug and play as you put it. Go to there website http://www.teamcyclops.com/ Its all there.
If you mean the new 1.55 fw from team cyclops- then I think so. I downloaded the .evo file and put it on my microSDHC. from what I understand from the "instruction manual.pdf" at team cyclops It's supposed to be a plug and play kind of deal. Unless there is something I'm missing, I think it may be defective.
1.56b3 is the latest firmware and required to run some of the dual mode games. You need more than firmware. Did you install the Moonshell files in the root directory of the microSD like it says in the following readme.txt file? Installation ------------ Simply copy the "moonshl" directory from the archive into the root directory of your MicroSD card. You may then launch Moonshell by selecting the "Media"icon from the CycloDS Evolution main menu. DO NOT just copy the archive fileto your MicroSD card - the files must be extracted first! If you are unsure ofhow to do this, please use Google for more information.
No, I didn't install moonshell- I didn't think it was required. Shouldn't the DS pick the card up whether a miniSDHC card is in it or not? The DS doesn't recognize the card at all. It just acts like nothing is inside the DS.
I downloaded the FW from here. http://www.cyclopsds.com/cgi-bin/cyclods/engine.pl?page=support I'm downloading Moonshell now to throw it on the card and see if that helps anything.
::sighs:: I guess I'll just need to return it. :[ I really wanted this thing to work. I've been pumped all week to get it in. I can't sign up for the message board at Team Cyclopse either... It keeps saying they blocked my email? I've tried like three different ones. It's upsetting to say the least.
The DS lites won't detect it? Or the DS won't load the firmware. Man, this is easy but you're not making it easy. OK, now I have to stop playing with my CycloDS to make these instructions. If you follow these steps and it still doesn't work, you may have a defective Cyclo. 1. Go here and D/L the following files: http://www.cyclopsds.com/cgi-bin/cyclods/engine.pl?page=support CycloDS Evolution Firmware v1.55 CycloDS Evolution Reference Manual v1.4 Evolution Tools v1.0 BETA2 (includes Cheat Code Editor) Moonshell v1.71 for CycloDS Evolution (Release 3) 2. Format your microSD card to FAT32 3. Unzip the firmware 4. Copy update.evo to the root directory of the microSD card 5. Eject the microSD card and put it in the CycloDS 6. Put the CycloDS in your Nintendo DS. 7. If your CycloDS is not detected, try the "paper shim" trick. Otherwise, follow the prompts to update the firmware. You will be prompted at the end of the firmware update to press A to shut down the NDS. 8. The firmware update will create a folder called "CycloDS" and a folder called "moonshl". Power up the NDS. 9. The CycloDS should boot into the main menu. The Games icon is the leftmost 10. Put your ROMs in the root directory. The CycloDS should display them upon selecting the games menu. If that doesn't work you CycloDS may indeed be defective. Oh, and BTW "Completely plug & play" doesn't mean that you don't need rudimentary PC skills. The latest firmware is 1.56b3 and the latest Moonshell is 1.71 but I suggest that you try to get 1.55 working before you try to get fancy.
As I've said before. It has never detected the card at any point. I can't update any firmware, as the DS acts like there is no card inside the DS at all. I thought it was pretty easy as well. I'm not making it hard, the card just isn't being picked up. I even tried shoving a piece of paper folded up four times like youtube said. The card is basically non-existent as far as DS's are concerned. I followed all those steps. I've been reading about this thing for like a month before it came in the mail. I'm pretty familiar with computers. I was just making sure I wasn't missing anything. Thanks for all your help. and every one else. I'm gonna send it back to the seller and get a replacement.
Hi, I'm having a related but slightly different problem. Yours is probably a faulty cyclods unit. But for me, I've been using mine for about a year with no problems. But recently the ds I've been using got a cracked hinge so i bought a new ds lite. Now the same cyclods doesn't work with the new system, I think because nintendo must have sold it with a new version of firmware that blocks the cyclo. The cyclo has the newest firmware (1.56b4), and i've also tried the index card shim with no success. Anyone know if cyclo's working on a way around this? I'll be posting there next.
