I keep getting 2-3 sec audio delay when burning a VCD from AVI usinf Nero

I keep getting 2-3 sec audio delay when burning a VCD from AVI using Nero 7 Premium.

The AVI plays fine in the computer using Media Player or similar, but something is happening in the encoding process? Are there any settings within Nero to correct this or perhaps someone can suggest another program as an alternative to Nero?
