As I said in the title, i know this the Gamecube forum, but it seems most appropriate in my eyes to stick this here...

Ok, so I got bored this morning and decided to go to my local video game store where I bought a Sega Saturn and a Sega Dreamcast, and about 30 games for each. Now Like most of my consoles, I would like to keep the games in good condition, so they will get stored away, and I would like to run backups of the games on the systems.

So could anyone point me in the right direction of where I can find info on backing up and running my games on these two consoles, or even better, post some info on how to do it here.

Many thanks to anyone who helps :)

If you are trying to make a backup of a Sega Saturn game then you can look at this guide http://www.racketboy.com/guides/ripping-bin-cue.htm .If you are trying to make a backup of a Dreamcast game then check out these guides http://www.megagames.com/dc/dc_utils_guides.shtml .If you really plan on making a backup of your dreamcast games I would suggest you get a hold of one of those DC-PC serial coder cables, cause Phantasy Star Online and the broadband adapter are extremely expensive now and rare.

Oh I should have mentioned how to boot your backups also.Sega Saturn has a swap trick(note there is no boot disc for Sega Saturn,so if you see one don't get it),which can get annoying sometimes. You can find the swap trick faq and some more guides on making backups of your Sega Saturn here http://www.segaxtreme.net/misc/helpfaq.html .There is a modchip for Sega Saturn though which gets rid of the pesky swap trick, just google for it and you will find one.The Dreamcast you can make self boot backups or use a boot disc called Utopia. There is a modchip for Dreamcast also, but it is mainly used for region change and multi-swap.

    Thanks again :-D

I'll probably end up taking the modchip route on the Saturn and the selfboot on the DC.
