I've been reading on the forums on how to decrypt movies. Then burning them. I've burned about 6 movies but with Pirates of the caribbean, none of the programs work. DVD Shrink gets stuck when it is analizing, DVD decrypter gets stuck at 14% as well with Smart Ripper and Any DVD running in the background. Any info will help. Thanks
So do you get any kind of an error message? Tell us about your OS, processor, hard drive and RAM. What condition is your source DVD in? Has somthing changed since you burned your last 6 discs? Without knowing more, I would say you have a bad source disc. Try ripping a different movie and see what happens. I ripped Pirates with Decrypter, no problems.

My computer has: Windows XP with Service Pack 1 Asus A7N8X Deluxe Athlon XP 2700+ Geil 512mb PC3200 Maxtor Diamond 80 gig 7200 ATA 133 Geforce FX 5900 Plextor PX-708A Firmware 1.4 The error message is Cyclic Redundancy Check. The source disk has a couple scratches but nothing big. Is it normal for this burner to read at 2.0X?
Cyclic redundancy means your reader can't read the disc. Usually caused by damage or dirt. I'd try cleaning it. I think I saw somthing about a disc rescue tool somewhere. I belive 321 studios makes it. You may want to look into it. I find my rips using Shrink or Decrypter take about 20-30 minutes. Make sure you don't have a bunch of other stuff running while ripping. Do the Ctrl>Alt>Delete thing to bring up your task manager and check things out. I read my discs with a DVD-ROM drive. It has a faster read speed than my Pioneer A-06. Take a look at Nero infotools. They have a drive performance checker. Good Luck, Frank
Deezznutz, Me thinks it's those scratches on your disc. I just finished ripping Pirates 5 minutes ago, for the second time - the first time I used DVDShrink3.0 Beta 5, maybe a month ago, when the DVD first came out - -tonight I used DVDShrink 3.1 - no problems either time - Radio Shack also has a scratch repair kit. Pete don't you loose quality? And on a more serious note, how come they are not in alphabetical order? Does look like a fun bit of entertainment though. I just bought 50 discs for $100.00 so for me that would be .50/movie@4per disc. I bought the discs at Office Depot, I'm going to buy the next bunch through one of the advertizers here at AD. Polish the disc with a soft cloth outwards from the centre (not in a circular fashion) If that doesn't work do it again but pressing harder. You can get special polishing paste if you want to try that. If after a good old polish it doesn't work then its buggered
By the Way th 2x Limit is an artificial limit created by the Manufacturer to make backing up of DVD-Movies a Pain, there are firmware upgrades available that will fix it, look at www.rpc1.org

Fast man - Word: You can do 3 pretty much with no worries - If you really JAM it - like re-Author 3 or 4 time you can do 4 Better to do 4 DVD-5's -that seems OK Quality - On the 3rd DVD-9 and on the 4th DVD-5 you'll notice it (like a VHS on EP) but to do doubles - yep, I like it - worth the investment for the second program. I have just successfully backed up my Pirates of The Caribbean (both Disks), using the latest versions of DVD Shrink and Nero, and had no problems whatsoever. I was a little dubious when I read some of the threads about Shrink probs with Disney disks, but it sailed through both of them (pun unintended!) These were both COMPLETE copies too - all menus/features left intact, and Shrink didn't seem to have any trouble compressing everything. The backup copies seem to be very high quality too, with no pixellation or other compression-related issues. In additon, I'm using a VERY low spec system ('98, P500, 8Gig HD) - I *am* using a Pioneer A05 burner though, so maybe that helps a little ;-) In fairness, I've now made backups of 9 or 10 of the latetst DVD's and all have been flawless - I LOVE DVD Shrink!!
You might want to look at the top of the disc, If there is a single nick or scratch thru the label exsposing it, it's history. A bit about Backups just used DVDXcopy Platinum burning Bruce Almighty which is a 2-layer 9gig and made a perfect copy onto a single layer 4.7gig DVDR+ disc using the Simple method. Was a simple 1or2 click method, Get it for easy DVD Backups you won't be disapointed. Doc
...although all of DVD X Copy family *do* burn an annoying '321 Studios' Screen onto the start of your back-up, and refuse to let themselves be backed up again (by X copy, anyway!). AND you've also got to PAY for X Copy, while Shrink is FREE!!!!
john10304, You won't find an extension of .DVD. You will however find files like .ifo, .bup and a bunch of. VOB’s. Create a folder and name it VIDEO_TS, written just like that, in Cap’s. Take ALL of your files from Decrypter and place them in that folder. Wander over to either DVD Shrink or Nero and allow them to take that folder and burn it onto your DVD disc. Happy burning Pete
