This may be a very easy problem as i have not yet tried yet. i have not much experience in dvd software or copying dvds. i have a data dvd with a football match that can only be viewed on computers. i have the following problems
    1) can i copy the data dvd directly to a dvd-r just using my dvd copying software, & will this mean it can still only be viewed on computer or do i need to use a data dvd to copy to as i only have dvd-r.
    2) is there any way of copying a data dvd to dvd to make it possible to view on tv and play on dvd players.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    hi ,
    this seems straight enough.

Is the file on your disc in an avi format. If it is all you need do is use an avi to dvd converter which will change your avi to an mpeg2 compatible format.Once in this file format, a program like nero can easily burn it to disc so that you can view it in a standalone dvd player.

But before we get that far i was wondering if you can copy the file on the disc to your hard drive.Just insert the disc into your dvd rom/burner and then right click that drive and copy and paste the video_ts and audio_ts files to your hard driver.

Now download avicodec , just google for it , load your file into it(after you install it) and copy and paste the file properties into your next post.Once we see what we are playing with we will be able to direct you on to the next step

thanks for the reply, i will do this as soon as i can, but also can the data dvd be copied straight to dvd-r and just still be viwed on a computer or does it need to be a different disk?

    thanks

if you have nero just use the disc copy feature and your off and running.

When i try to convert from avi to dvd it wont let me. it shows a message to say make sure that file can be viewed in media player. it is a data dvd but i can only view it with power cinema software that came free with my computer. Can any light be shed on how to convert to dvd???
