I need a firewall to ban people from cheating in my gaming server. I need to be able to ban people and IP range ban people. I have a program that was designed for the game, however this program crashes, not to mension the cheater's keep changing the last digits in their IP and it's disturbing the regulars on my server. I have Windows ME. I've tried to look for what it is, but I can't find anything, so here I am. Thanks for your time.

    Hey gille

Could you post the specifications of your computer and how complex you would like the firewall to be?

    Best Regards :D

What specifications of my computer? I don't understand. Sorry. I know I have Windows ME, as I said above. I thought that's all that was needed to be said. I don't know what else to add. Sorry. Maybe you can tell me what else I should add. I don't know anything about computers.
I don't care what firewall it is, as long as I can IP ban and IP range ban people. The smaller the firewall program is the better, so there's not that much lag on my gaming server, but if it's a big firewall, I'll take it. :)

    Hey gille

I'd recommend this firewall: FirewallPAPI: http://firewallpapi.en.softonic.com/

It's small, light, and is useful for creating rules, i.e. banning people.

    Best Regards :D

    OS requirements for FirewallPAPI:
    OS: Win2000/NT/XP

I'll still try. It installed without a problem. No errors. Now I guess I don't know how to add what it is. Lol. Are you familiar with this firewall? I'll post pictures in order.

    Here's how it looks.

I'm guessing then I click into "Add Rule", which shows this.

Now is "Source" to block an IP and "Destination" to IP range block?

I also see "Start". Do I click "Start" before adding an IP? Are you sure this program can block people from joining my gaming server? It's such a small program. I like it. :)
Thanks for the help so far, but clearly I still need more. Lol. There was no help file, but after seeing this program, I'm sure even a monkey can work out to use it, but clearly I can't. Lol.

    Hey gille

Yes, I'm familiar with this program, having used it before to do a similar task.

You need to start the firewall before it is working and functional.

Source and Destination are referring to traffic direction. So, for your purposes, leave Destination the way it is, and for Source, simply put the IP you want to ban.

    Best Regards :D

Ok, thanks for that, but how do I IP range ban somebody? Is that in "IP Mask"?
Do I click "Start" before adding an IP, or after, or doesn't matter?
Should I click "Start" before starting my gaming server, or can I add people to the firewall even when the server's running to block them out?

Ok, sorry to post before you've posted, but I did something and it didn't work. I'll tell you and show you what I did.

I opened Firewall PAPI, click into "Add Rule", put the person's IP address in the part where it says "IP Address (0.0.0.0 for all)", under "Source", clicked "Ok", then this's how it looked on my screen.

I booted him from the server first with a program that was designed for the game, then I turned the firewall on. I clicked "Start". I waited a while and I thought it worked, but then he joined back and he joined back with the same IP shown in the picture. :(
I hope I did something wrong and that's why the program didn't work for me. Once again, sorry for posting before you posted about my first thing, but I had to try it out. :)
