Every time i try to burn a dvd using ImgBrn or DVD decrypter it gives me an I/O error, sometimes its one messege, sometimes its the other. I've upgraded my firmware, It was even suggested i needed a new Ide cable, so i replaced it, and still i can't do anything... these are the 2 messeges it gives me:

    I/O error!
    device: [1:0:0] LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1673S JS0D (E:) (ATA)

    Scsi Status: 0x02

Interpretation: logical unit communication CRC error (ULTRA/DMA/32)

    I/O error!
    device: [1:0:0} LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1673s JSOD (E:) (ATA)

    ScsiStatus: 0x02
    Interpretation: Check Condition

    CDB: 2A00 00 01 DD A0 00 00 20 00
    Iterpretation: Write(10)-Sectors: 122272-122303

    Sense Area: 70 00 02 00 00 00 00 0A 00 00 00 00 30 05 00 00 00 00
Interpretation : Cannot Write Medium- Incompatible Format

I'm using TDK 16x DVD-r's and for larger files i've tried using Verbatim DVD=R DL, previously i've used memorex and sony with the same results.
If anyone can help me with this problem i would be very thankfull. its been frustrating, and i just want to fix this

dvd decrypter won't handle new discs. You may try dvdfab decrypter (free) or anydvd ($) to do new discs.

try uninstalling/re-installing the drive, make sure its in DMA mode

then if that dont work,if you are confident enough, open up the burner and clean the laser with a cotton bud
    see if that solves it

and dont forget to burn at slow speeds

The reinstallation of the DVD Writer is a resonable suggestion. This process should fix any of the normal windows woes (DMA).

Have you been able to burn any DVD's/CD's on this drive since this problem has shown up?

I'll try uninstalling the drive when i have some time free, hopefully thats the problem. I have been able to make 2 dvds since the problem showed up, princess bride and flcl vol 1.

just yesterday though i had put in a reguler data cd, and was unable to read some of the files with the dvd drive, but was able to read them with my cd drive
