I BURNED VHS TO DVD USING PANASONIC RECORDER AND IT GIVES THE UNWANTED TITLE PAGE, SO I TRY TO REMOVE IT BY USING:

    DVD DECRYPTER
    DVD2ONE
    NERO

THIS PROCEDURE WORKED ON ABOUT FOUR. BUT LATELY WHEN USING DECRYPTER, IT'S GETTING HUNG UP ON THE VOB.04 FILE ON EVERY DVD THAT I TRY TO RIP AND I GET ON I/O ERROR MESSAGE! ANY IDEAS! I TRIED USING DVD X COPY XPRESS AND IT WORKS PERFECTLY EXCEPT I DON'T WANT THAT DISCLAIMER IN BEGINNING OF MY DVDS!

dvd shrink, I believe, has a similar function where you can cut off bits and pieces from the beginning. Give that a shot.

Ru using an rw disc - ie the same.

The reason I am asking is I have a philips standalone recorder +r

    I use a +rw to do this.
However recently I have encountered a similar problem whilst ripping - my problem was the disc - after mucho use, alot of scratches have appeared and the main scratch is towards the outer rim, I have binned the rw and using a new one.

To get rid of the title page and put it on a cheaper disc.
I transfer my recordings to -r discs by using:

    dvd decrypter
    dvd2one
    recordnowmax
