I/O Error with DVD Decrypter when verifying

Hi guys,

I've been happily burning DVD+R's for a while now and recently bought some blank DVD+RW's so I can copy over etc. Both have been Philips branded.

Unfortunately it seems my laptop doesn't like these new type of discs. Everything is fine with DVD Shrink then move on to Decrypter to burn, but after sliding the disc back into verify I keep getting an I/O error. The I/O errors vary, the latest one says:

"Intepretation: check condition" and "Intepretation: Unrecovered Read Error"

It has a habit of doing it on 11% even on different films and different blank dvd's.

I have an NEC DVD+RW ND-6100A if thats relevant.

Decrypter's burning engine has been updated to a very nice piece of software called ImgBurn which does much better with today's newer drives and media.
Also check your burner's firmware.
Also some better quality discs should be used such as Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden.

Thanks very much for the advice. Didn't know about ImgBurn, but it worked a treat first time.

Thought Philips discs were decent but will perhaps buy Verbatim next time.

Philips, like many others these days use several disc manufacturers to produce their discs. Then Philips just stamps their name on them and sends them down the road. Sometimes you'll get a decent spindle, otherwise you end up with CMC MAG which are garbage as far as blank media goes.

You're better off sticking with Verbs or buying Taiyo Yuden online. Don't get the Verbs that are made in India though, haven't heard much good about those at this point.

Unfortunately keep getting the same problem, think I must have had a luck break that one time.

I haven't ordered any Verbatim discs yet but will do (any recommendation on cheap UK suppplier?) but in the meantime is there anything else I can do?

You mentioned checking my burner's firmware - sorry not sure what this entails, could you explain for me please.
