ok i bought this drive brand new out of the box and installed it. turned on the computer and put in the installation disc for nero....wont read! i open up my computer window and it says dvd-ram? not thinking too much about it i put in a dvd to see if it would play. Nothing. i try a music cd in the drive. media player starts....only one song is listed and the others are listed as tracks but no auto play. ok i click on play and it plays a few seconds of each track and it stops. getting frustrated...tried another music cd. does the same thing except i get the dreaded blue screen then windows restarts. i tried original dvd, burned dvd, original cds burned cds and to no avail the same thing. I went through bios, device manager, tried to update the firmware. i dont understand why it isnt working when the previous drives that were in my computer are the same brand and model and they were working fine. I have bought and taken back 2 other drives. why is this being recognized as dvd-ram and cant play anything and not even the installation disc. but it will burn a mp3 to a cd disc. i also tried to burn data to a dvd didnt work. a blank dvd was recognized as a cd drive in the my computer window. can someone please help if you know the answer to this.
