Okay, I'm trying to get my GetBackers stuff on my comupter, which I downloaded off limewire pro, onto dvds. I have the following programs on my computer: DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink, and Avi2DVD. I am really lost... I used Avi2DVD. In the end I got some sort of pop up that said a decompressor or something wasn't found. And the resulting files were some text and audio and there was a "encoded image" file or something that was 0kb... I'm just having problems with it. I just want to get the .avi files to w/e they need to be so that Decrypter can burn them on my dvds.... I would greatly appreciate any help. ~Sankei
VSO ConvertXtoDVD should do what you want in 1 step. It's not free and the trial inserts a watermark in your video and is speed limited, though it's very reasonably priced. I used a previous version, DIVXtoDVD, and was impressed by its speed, quality and ease of use and the latest version is said to be even better. From all that I have read, it's highly recommended, too:http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/vso_convertxtodvd_guide.cfm
For some reason my computer wouldn't let me get that... it said the file was corrupted... I think its because of my internet-Dail-up :'( But anyway, I used that Avi2Dvd thing and got this http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d200/Zenkei/crap.jpg I think I need the right decompressor for it... After that, I will have the audio file and video file. I also have the program TMPGEnc. This has something to merge those two i think. But for some reason, it doesn't want to accept the audio file. Sorry, but i'm only 15... this is the first time i've been able to offord the burner... so i've never done this. I just dont know how it all works.
Sorry, I have never used Avi2DVD. Why not just use TMPGEnc to encode your files, then author them and burn or does Avi2DVD author as well. TMPGEnc will merge your files but only mpg. I would try downloading VSO again, too.
Okay, I got VSO to work, but it plays horribly... it glitches and freezes and has that thing in the middle. I used Avi2DVD and got the following error http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d200/Zenkei/crap2.jpg I need a decompressor or something to make it work... Can someone please tell me how to get what it needs.
That looks to be a codec error although the file would'nt play at all without it. If that applies, go here and get the Kazaa-Lite Codec pack (full) but make sure you uninstall any other codecs first as they can conflict:http://home.hccnet.nl/h.edskes/mirror.htm PS-I recently trialed CCE but no files would open because of an XVID error even though the proper codec was installed and no other encoder had ever had a problem.
there's nothing really wrong with ConvertXToDVD ......... the free version has a watermark logo on the final output..... if you buy it that is taken out. The quality of the AVI is what is the problem here. You could have downloaded Web-Crap that doesn't convert very well! And if you're downloading from Limewire make sure you're not downloading anything that is copywrited or it's illegal and that is frowned upon here and not allowed! Be careful as you might get banned or suspended for piracy.
As stated, VSO should do fine. The files could be lousy quality and, maybe I'm wrong, but I have a feeling that's not it. That error message is similar to one I received from CCE; see screenshot in this thread:http://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=304929 I never heard of this before but I can't be the only one and CCE can't be the only program to return this erroneous error. Incidentally, what is the quality of those files? This is a longshot but could your drive need defragging or could low ram be an issue?
@mistycat...... I just wanted to say that Sankou's problem was bad quality avi convertion to crappy DVD compliant files of low quality. I use CCE with DVDRebuilder and I can say that it does a fantastic job. I don't know what your computers capabilities are or if something is going on to make conflicts! I wish you luck.
I have absolutely no idea what happened. I didn't even know it could but, apparently, that's one possibility. And, as you say, the origonal files have to be good quality.
Okay, I will try the codec thing. And as far as buying the vso, I cant. I have no money, and will have no money for quite a while... Very broke -_-' Which is the reason I download things off of limewire... Oh, and the file I am trying to burn was not illegaly received. I usually only get things from my friends through limewire. Limewire is a filesharing system, am I wrong? My understanding was that in order to get things from limewire, the person had to of gotten limewire themselves, and in the terms and conditions it states that certain files will be registered on there and other people can download them... It is filesharing, and occording to the laws and reading I did on it, I have done nothing wrong... But if I am wrong, please tell me and I will quit. I honestly dont want to do it if it is illegal =(
If you download any copyrighted files, then, it is illegal if you get caught by the authorities. Also, Limewire shares that file which means others are downloading that copyrighted file from you. That's a pretty simplistic explanation but the general gist. Get ahold of PeerGuardian from Phoenix Labs when you download if copyright laws apply to you. It's a kind of firewall for p2p that will block sites spying on you and reporting what you download. Not 100% but very good. I never heard of your files but this site frowns of you naming downloaded files if they are copyrighted. Here is a link for the previous version of VSO which was free; not sure if it will work but seemms to:http://www.aplusfreeware.com/categories/Audio-Video/vsoDivxToDVD.html Also, if you have Nero, let me know and I'll give you a guide for that.
I do have Nero. And I did not know that Limewire was illegal... I just updated my virus protection and started downloading. When I got it, it said filesharing was perfectly legal... I was unaware. From now on I guess I'll just mooch off friends for my stuff lol. Thanks for all the help everyone :3
Okay, here is a guide for Nero that people here swear by:http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/272946 Also, here is a link to the free version of DIVXtoDVD that does work:http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_encoders/vso_divxtodvd_free.cfm LimeWire isn't illegal but having copyrighted material in your possession in a country where those copyright laws are recognized is. And, it isn't the downloader that necessarily gets in trouble. I just read of an example of this where a grandson visiting his grandparents downloaded a movie and the grandparent was being sued even though he had no knowledge of the download but the isp was registered to him. This was in the US. Another example is myself. About 18 mos ago, I received a letter from my isp saying they had been contacted by an MPAA member, seeking me, regarding a movie I had downloaded but because I live in Canada (US copyright isn't recognized here - don't know why), my isp informed me and would give out no info on me. That's when i got PeerGuardian and even though I download much more stuff, no more letters. It depends on where you live and PeerGuardian is a necessity (and free).
