i think i messed up

    yeah,I think your going to have to return the psu and get a 24 pin.I liked the psu though nice color matches my case.

    i think there is an adapter from 20pin to 24pin available

    is the adaper thingy a smart thing to do or should i just return the psu

    might be better off to get proper psu as it might cost $10-20 Can for that adapter or even more

    they are only like 5 to 10 bucks but is it going to effect the performance any

    shouldn't but not certain as never used that adapter before. as long as it uses all the primary wires like power good, +/- 3,5,12volts, ground & some others it should work. get 1 & compare to your existing computer psu connector

    does your psu come with the 4pin connector??

    i presume that 24pin is actually a 20 # 24-pin ATX Power connector??
    if the blue adapter is the same color as the other power cables than go for it
