i think my dvd drive for my xbox is really messed up!!! please give me your opinion!

the reason i think its broken is because i burned tons of diff evo-x auto installer and all that wih memorex and none work....after the cd is in for a while something starts making a click noise!
The modchip i have is Matrix 256kb and its in mode"3" and its orange.... i've been trying to install my new hard drive and after i put the cd's in and reboot the message 16 stays on forever or at least for like 2 minutes and nothing even happens..... WHAT IS WRONG PEOPLE PLEASE HELP ME!

 

I put mine in mode 2 when installing evox, i think you mean mode 4 b/c thats the only time the led will be orange and this is only used if you were going to change bios once the chip is on the board and evox is running. Does the box boot up games? if when trying to play games it still gives the message 16 screen, try without the chip to make sure you havent screwed anything up.

 

Error 16 is a dasboard error probably because the harddrive is empty.
The clicking noise isn't good but I don't see how loading burned disc's would ruin your DVD drive.

Try another Brand name of Disc. Both 4X Sony and TDK work well for me.
