Can anyone help me i think my xbox broke. My Xbox is really old its a 2001 edition. I dont know what happened i was playing halo 2 with a friend and all the maps i unlocked where not unlocked so i turned off my xbox i have done this before but this time when i turned it back on it said the disc was damged or broken to take it out to continue so i did i cleaned the disc and put it back in still the same thing. So i tried my other games and the same thing. I called microsoft and they said it was a hardware problem and that they would fix it for 79 dollars i laughed and hunged up but now im sad and i want to play xbox. People have told me that i just need a cd cleaner but i have not tried it. Anyone have any tips on what should i do to fix it and whats the problem.

    Thanks in Advance

Well the thing I would do is fix it and sell it... Now don't go get another Xbox... Just wait until the Xbox 360 comes out! Or get the PS3... Your choice!

try the lens cleaner and see what happens, they're pretty cheap at Wal-Mart.

If that doesn't work your Dvd-rom drive is going bye bye!!!! You might have to replace the drive itself if the laser lens cleaner doesn't do the trick.......Later

I'm gonna warn you right now about those lens cleaners. They do claim to work for consoles, but there is a 50% chance it could mess up the lens in your xbox.

It could be that your dvd drive is "dying" on you. I would suggest you buy a Samsung (ebay is best to get it from) and install it. There are plenty of tutorials. If you can, get one of those modified PC Samsungs (616T or 616F). Some people sell them already modified and all you have to do is plug it in where your old drive was.

    Best of luck!

I also heard that about those laser lens cleaner Quad.....EbGames has a laser lens cleaner with special brushes that you can use for the Xbox and PS2 laser lens.

I do believe your DVD drive is dying. There's a way to tweak it if it's a Thomson model, which I think you might have cuz it's an early Xbox version. But do a Google check to make sure. Here's the tutorial on how to do the tweak.

If that fails, your only option left is to buy one from eBay as cheap as you can. Good luck.
