    Specs:

Vista 32 bit - up to date
8800 GTX with Nvidia Driver 178.24 (latest stable version)
    4 gig of Ram
    Q6600 cpu

    Problem:

I can't get a couple of games to work for more than 10-15 minutes. Dead Space and Far Cry 2. I start them up, they play fine and then almost at exactly the same point the game freezes up, the screen goes black and then goes to a blue screen before rebooting itself.

I then get the following error message once Vista has restarted:

    Problem signature:
    Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
    OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.768.3
    Locale ID: 2057

    Additional information about the problem:
    BCCode: 116
    BCP1: 89D14510
    BCP2: 94416E80
    BCP3: 00000000
    BCP4: 00000002
    OS Version: 6_0_6001
    Service Pack: 1_0
    Product: 768_1

Files that help describe the problem:
    C:\Windows\Minidump\Mini110808-02.dmp
    C:\Windows\Temp\WER-91906-0.sysdata.xml
    C:\Windows\Temp\WER84EA.tmp.version.txt

    I have tried the following:

    - Right clicking the .exe for each game and choosing run as administrator.

    - As above and choosing run in XP service pack 2 compatibility mode.

    - Disconnecting from the internet and turning off my firewall and anti-virus package (which is Kaspersky 2009).

I would be eternally grateful if someone could suggest a solution for me. I've googled this for hours but it's still crashing on me.

ps - I've played other games recently with no problems such as Spore and Bioshock. These are legit purchased games.

    Thanks for the reply.

I've tried rolling back the Nvidia driver and I've tried using the latest beta drivers as well. I've updated my realtek audio driver as well. I've updated dx9 to the latest one. Vista is up to date.

It doesnt work. Still crashes. I've installed another game to test this (COD5) and it does the same thing so it has to be something with my system.

Any other ideas before I burst into tears?!

    Thanks.

try killing all background processes under your account name before you start the game

FarCry 2 has a heap of DRM. Not sure about Dead Space but it is possible that it's a copyright problem? How are your games setup?
Any burner/vm app in the background or even installed will kill FarCry as far as I've read and heard. Just a thought.
