I updated my burner firmware and now i cant burn at 1x. Whats up with this?

    The burner is the IOMagic 8x DVDRW IDE1008. I have to burn at 4x with it now and my dvd movie skip when I burn that high. Is there a way to get it to burn at 1x again?
