Hi, i used smart ripper to get the necessary files in order to burn it to a dvd-r, but i put the dvd-r disk in the drive, and added the files that smart ripper gave me and clicked burn in nero and it says that i am using an incorrect medium.....it says that the drive is empty and that i need to use a dvd+r or dvd+rw.....i thought that i could use a dvd-r to burn it....i am using fujifilm 4.7 gb dvd-r.....is something wrong with the disks i am using? I was just starting to understand this whole process and now this happens and i feel like i am back where i started.....any help is greatly appreciated....BTW, the size of the movie files is like 4.32 gb

You don't have a problem with the files I'm sure. What drive do you have for burning? It sounds like your drive is for DVD+R discs only?

Your drive may be compliant for with dvd-r dvd-rw and dvd+r and dvd+rw - but to READ only.

What make and model is it.

I think discmania is correct, sounds like you have a +r burner....
Which case, just get a +r and try it, I would have expected you to receive a +rw with your burner when purchased....

Why not state what your burner is exactly so that we can ascertain whether or not it is indeed a +R burning dirve. Also, no on ehas mentioed compression. Don't mean to sound stupid, but do you know that you may have to compress your files before burning?
