What program is best for that purpose? I tried to set up an Apache web server but was unsuccessful, so now I'm just looking for a simple program that would allow me to have access to my PC while away. Any suggestions would be welcome.
You could use a FTP server such as SERV-U. It's pretty simple to set up and the security setting are excellent. I don't have a link handy, but just Google it and you'll find it easily.
Or have a look at Remote Administrator (aka Radmin), on of the most secure remote administration tools there is.
