I am about to purchase a new PSP with the hope of installing custom firmware and going from there, but I don't know anyone with a PSP at all (much less one with CFW already) so I guess I will be doing this from scratch. I have looked at a bunch of guides and posts but I am still slightly confused about my options here.

Can anyone lay out exactly what I will need to buy to let me create a Pandora's battery (assuming I need that, which looks to be "yes") and set up CFW? I can follow a guide once I get my parts and start rolling, but it is the initial "figure out what you need and buy it" step that is stumping me.

    Thanks.

edit: Also, I would prefer not to solder anything or mess with internal parts if I can avoid doing so. I saw this product linked http://us.codejunkies.com/Products/PSP-Battery-Service-Tool__EF000530.aspx in another thread -- is that useful in my situation?

Do you think I'm better off getting the Datel Battery or the Battery Service Tool linked above? My understanding is that the latter would allow me to convert/unconvert my existing PSP battery into the "Pandora" battery needed for the CW install process, right? It seems a bit cheaper than the Datel Battery from the places I have looked but I don't want to skimp and regret it later.

    hi

I brought the battery service tool and it work perfectly for me. It cheap and it easy to use. I guess it come down to price on the two if nothing else. They both do the job so it up to u.
