Hello! As the topic says, I want to rip a movie and add a custom subtitle to it. The subtitle I got in .srt format from opensubtitles.com. If possible I want to rip the movie including all the menus and features, add the subtitle to the main movie, and then re-burn it. If that's not possible then I could create an .avi or some other single file of the main movie. I have no idea where to begin with this. I don't even know if the subtitle will be in sync with the video or how I can find out before making a copy... If someone would help me out please I would be very grateful!
There's a tutorial here to add subs to a DVD and keep the menu - but it's quite involved and not for the faint hearted. http://forum.videohelp.com/threads/217500-How-to-add-your-own-subtitle-to-DVD-(keep-menu-multi-pgc) The alternative is to rip the main movie to the HDD using the likes of DVDFab HD Decrypter and convert it to AVI using AutoGK. The subs can be added (but they will be hard coded - always on). Alternately the subs can be renamed same as the avi (myvideo.avi and myvideo.srt) and the PC media player (or standalone DivX player) will display them as required. http://www.videohelp.com/tools/DVDFab_Decrypter
Thanks. AutoGK converted the DVD to avi and then I renamed the subtitles and it works. I don't see how I can add the subtitles in the program though. The subtitles box has only Select All and Unselect All options. Then I checked "Use External Subtitles" in advanced settings but it says WinRAR not found, even though I have it installed. Any ideas? (i'm on windows 7 if it makes a difference)
