I want to take a couple parts out of a DVD and re-burn it to a DVD+R

I've been searching and searching, maybe I'm not searching under the right keywords, or I'm just too stupid to notice when I find the right thing. My specific problem is this; I have a DVD that I want to take a couple portions out of. I assume I'll need to rip it to my harddrive, edit it, and re-burn it. It would also appear I might have more steps, like de-coding, re-encoding, authoring, etc. My question is what will I need to do, and what programs will I need to use. heres a link to the advanced tutorial of tmpgenc dvd author.You will need to rip it to your hard drive , and in the tools section of this program you will be able to edit the portions that you wish.
