i want to update to sp1 or sp2

    hi i'll like to update to sp1 or sp2. but don't know which is best.
    in fact i'll only need it so my cpu would recognise my 320gb seagate hard drive (plugged as slave 2nd hd) full capacity. apparently, my win can't recognise more than 127gb of an HD.
    1. do i really need to update my version of win, and install sp1?
    2. is there another way to get my HD to 320gb?

    you want and need sp2 as it has improved security
