I think Sony has got it together. 7 million units sold in the first year is not bad. It sold more units than the Xbox360 during its first year.
matttyl said "Again, really not so worried about the Blu-Ray format as it looks like it will be around for at least 2 more years. In that time there will be more than enough discs to make a respectable library, but I'll honestly do most of my movies through rental and Blockbuster. I'm fairly familiar with the PS3 as a gaming machine, it's more power than I'm really in need of as I'm not much of a gamer (would be surprised if I owned more than 5 titles on the PS3). Really, just give me a decent version of Madden, a decent Gran Turismo title, and something else where I actually get to kill people in 1080p, and I'll be happy. Can someone expand on the computer and multimedia capabilities for me, though? Thanks. " Check out the free tversity software and functions. The PS3 is a fully functional media server hub between your TV & Computer!Along with DIVIX support to be added in the near future makes for a really nice incentive for living room media integration.
Why do post absolute mis-information all the time? I think it is time you refrain from posting in the PS3 section if you can't stop since you are the only "fanboy" who goes out of his way to point out things that are totally untrue.
well, I'm not as tech advanced as I would like to be. How easy would it be to connect the PS3 to my home computer (wirelessly) to be able to steam media from it? That ability is of great interest to me. Also is the ability of the built-in web-browser to be able to go to ESPN's website and stream video from it (the ESPN 360 feature) so I could watch those games on my TV. Thanks again for all the information!!
matttyl again about the wireless connectivity - TVERSITY , TVERSITY TVERSITY !!It works great I have been using the program for about six mo.I can stream Mp4 video ( divix soon coming ) , look at family potos on big screen in hi res , and all kinds of rss functions I dont understand how to use . You put this tversity prgram on your home computer and the ps3 picks up the content automatically! It is a bit tricky to navigate the xmb but it doesnt take long to get the hang of it.
i hear that blueray and hd may both be dead technology due to the fact that solid state devices are gonna start takin' over... but tha's jus an opinion
solid state is a good 10 years out before it's "mainstream". Currently you can get 50 blank DVDs for $20. Each being 4.7 GBs, that's 235 gigs total or about 12 gigs per dollar. Now for $15 you can get a single 25 gig Blu-Ray disc, just under 2 gigs per dollar. For just a shade under $300, you can get a 32 gig solid state hard dive, or right at .1 gig per dollar (20 times the price of Blu-Ray on a gig for gig basis, and 120 times the price of DVD). Blu-Ray "should" have a life span of at least 5 years worst case, and 20+ best case. I'm willing to spend $200 on a player, and another $150 for an upgradeable media hub that will work will all my stuff. So really I'm only spending $50 for the most powerful gaming console currently on the market, and I get a free Blu-Ray movie with it. I'm sold. Thanks for all the help.
Erm... have you checked the latest sales data from NPD? No problem man. You should complain to the manager of Gamestop. Regardless how I feel about the PS3, the employee was unprofessional, and really just plain lied to your face. Good luck with your purchase.
Yes i have Sony started out 10 million console behind..Sony has cut into Microsoft lead.Sony only 7 million consoles behind right now by this time next year Sony will past Microsoft.
u could be right but i think is less then 7 million its like 5 or 6 million behind from what i looked up
I'll be totally honest too, EVERY GameStop employee has always advised me to pick the 360 over the PS3. They just say mainly because of the games, but that the graphics are better of the PS3.
