try flashfxp just for the heck of it. I couldn't tell you exactly what the problem was just from reading what you wrote, but I had a similar problem with cute. No problems with flash.
I agree, try flashfxp. I had problems with others on xbins. Seems to be picky. You can get a free trial of it if you only need it a couple of times.
