I860 myths?

I dont know if this is true, but I bought a brand new! motorola i860 from a friend. he says I can replace the sim card with a boost mobile card. can I, he also says it is already unlocked, and he does have a minute card in it! He told me that there is a way I can enter some code to get free minutes, is that true, sorry for the noobish question, but if this is tru, can somebody pm with the facts? thank you!
