lately i have been getting this error iastor.sys. is there anyway to fine out what is causing the failure? dell xps410. edit: after searching i found that the problem might be in Intel® Matrix Storage Manager by still looking for the fix so what does Intel® Matrix Storage Manager do? if it helps the other thing i noticed about the pc is on reboot with the xp blue led light that goes from left to right under the xp loco freezes on this pc. none of my other ones that have xp freeze like this. i dont know if it means anything
It's a problem with a glitched release of a Dell driver. If you've updated any drivers recently, roll them back or see if there's a newer version.
sammorris thanks that was quick. i have not updated anything knowingly. not to sound to much like a moron but where would i start? i am going to post a pic if it helps?
All I can suggest is have a google and see what driver the iastor.sys links to, then find an updated version of it. Have you added any new hardware to your PC recently?
i have been having trouble burning lately this came out of my nero log DiskPeripheral : SAMSUNG SP2504C iaStor Port 0 ID 0 DMA: On DiskPeripheral : WDC WD5000AAKS-00YGA0 iaStor Port 0 ID 1 DMA: Off CdRomPeripheral : LITE-ON DVDRW LH-20A1S iaStor Port 0 ID 2 DMA: Off CdRomPeripheral : HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GSA-H31N iaStor Port 0 ID 3 DMA: Off i notice that it has the iastor.. could all this be related? i have now idea what the Intel® Matrix Storage Manager does! should i call dell? i have looked on there web site for this. turned up nothing. i am not the best searcher either.
According to a post on another forum I found, Dell don't even acknowledge this issue, even though it appears to be quite widespread. If you still have a proper warranty with them I'd demand to know what's up.
i read some of it from a driver fix to giving the pc back. i have 2 months left on my year warranty. guess friday night i will make the dreaded call.. edit took out last question fixed...
