Yesterday my brother handed me this laptop and basically said, "fix it." All I know about it is that its a Intel Pentium 3, 2 sticks of ram (128 and 256 mb), and a 20 gig Hitachi hdd. Here's the problem, I go to push the power button, nothing happens. When I plug in the power cord, the battery light flashes then stays a solid yellow/orange color. I push the power button again, the battery light goes off, flickers, and then returns to the solid yellow/orange. I do not hear the harddrive spin, fans going, or anything. I have no clue what the problem could be. A bad battery? Bad motherboard? the small motherboard battery? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, a bad battery or battery board is my first suspicion.

I removed the battery, but it still won't start up. There's the one green LED for accessing the harddrive, that blinks once and does nothing.

I tried replacing the hard drive and it still won't start up. I want to try the motherboard battery next, but I don't know how. Anybody know any sites I can go to for this information?
