Hey guys, decided to take a punt on getting a mac, ordered a fairly cheap basic one from ebay (iBook g4 £200).

    These are the specs...
    Product Family: iBook
    Hard Drive Capacity: 60 GB
    Processor Type: PowerPC G4
Operating System: Mac OS 10.4, Tiger
    Processor Speed: 1,040 MHz
    Screen Size: 12 inches
    Memory (RAM): 768 MB

As you can see its got Tiger, should i install the newer Leopard OS? As im waiting for it to be delivered i thought i should get everything ready, maybe download the leopard os if you all think so?

Thanks, any help is appreciated :D

I would install leopard. Most PowerPC machines that meet the basic requirements for Leopard have seen faster boot times and faster load times. While the PowerPC G4 processor isn't 64 bit compatible it still can take advantage of the improvements to the UNIX core in leopard.

Plus the indexing times of spotlight is much faster. I would strongly recommend using Time Machine if you install leopard.
