Why no animated smileys? i find it hard to get sarcasm and other emotions across to ppl. im not a poet ya know. if you guys dont have them by now im sure theres a reason BUT i still would like them here.
there was talk about smileycons or something like that & i think as currently stands is a nogo. check in this forum as i think it was here & not the top 1
found it......... http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/2/126483 Quote zippyd: Seriously, I appreciate the suggestion -- I've actually developed more than enough forums for various companies and have developed such things (emoticons) for other companies, but I can't personally stand them And again, they would slow down the page loading times as well, even when they would be like 512 bytes, but when you got 100 on one page, that makes 50kb extra to load per page, which is a pain for modem users. And also, I'm sorta old skool person, I began my "Net career" as a sysop on AmiExpress board back in 1991, I'd personally prefer a text-only, fixed-width font command line site Unfortunately such thing doesn't exactly go well with mainstream users, so that's why aD is graphical, although we try to aim to keep it simple while trying to make it look nice But as always, suggestions are appreciated, but this one (emoticons) will get turned down, unfortunately
well thats pretty lame. :/ i think us non old fogies would like them. (that was sarcasm with no offence intended incase ya couldnt tell.) Oh well
Ya umm, 100 smileys a page... i dont think so. for the ppl with slow ass connections give an option to turn off pics and smileys, so that its pretty much text only. i stand by it, i think that they would be a good idea. (i know i have absolutely no rank or anything, this is just my opinion.)
I read this Thread but still dont get the really big deal of havin smily's if u want that use mesenger or yahoo this is a website. if u want smiles just type them in people here get that automatically. ciao
to you it might be a good idea but to the people who run the board; they have a point that it does chew the bandwith and slow the board down for modem users.Even broadband users get the slow down now and again, and yes i grumble every time that happens
