Idiots

I'm tired of all the stupid people on this forum. There are tons of helpful and respectful people here and then there's that tiny group of users that just complain about answers they are given and start freaking out because it's not the one they wanted. I wish there was a way to just ban these people. No body wants to get on here and see people fighting over stupid shit. You don't have to respond and start arguing over stupid things, just don't go to that thread anymore. Or don't reply to that person.

The problem is it is starting to be on every section here. Mostly in consoles but I feel something needs to be done. I love this place. I hate to see it being ruined by ignorant people.

I'm not sure about that...there have been some big changes in the PS3 area lately...and much of the ordinary discussion is about technical matters like how to fix YLODs. Yeah, there are always going to be idiotic posts...but there is an easy fix for these...don't respond to them, and they will drop down the list and out of view.

I don't understand what the problem is. Some guy wanted to exchange his xbox for the new one. I told him how I had seen another console that had the usb ports broken and how bending them would result in no power. I didn't really see a problem with him trying to upgrade his console before his warranty ran out. No one wants to have something break soon after the warranty is up. I'm not trying to be a dick or anything but I went back through and read the forum rules and I didn't see anything that said you can't tell someone how to return a product and get a new one. If I miss read something please show me. I don't want to be banned from here, I just wanna know what you saw was a problem? And why did you ban him?

easy to explain really... if somebody tells you eaxctly how to rob a bank are they or are they not an accomplice before the fact?

same thing with telling somebody how to deliberately destroy something to fraudulently claim a fault under warranty..

simples.

I guess that makes sense. I wouldn't compare robbing a bank to breaking a 360 but I get what you're saying. Although it does not say in the rules I have to be ethical with my posts.

no.. but.. and here is a but.. and it's a big one...

IF you tell somebody where the person they intend to shoot will be and then give them information about how to buy or procure a gun, how to load it and take the safety off.. and lastly how to point it at them and pull the trigger.. then a court will find you guilty of being a willing accessory to a felony.

You will not be guilty of EVERY incidence of a shooting, but you WILL be guilty of directly aiding in one.

It is no longer legal to post bomb making information on websites .. and it is also not legal to post information regarding the movements of possible terrorist targets.. like home addresses and vehicle identification numbers or where their families work or go to school. The same kinds of rules apply to bank security details.

Consider this.. I come along when somebody asks "how do I rob xxxx bank" and post detailed information about the security guards shifts, the cctv camera locations, whether they have a silent alarm or shutters which close, the average cop response time and detailed maps of the local roads and traffic situation at different times of day.. That's a crime.

now we come to handing out detailed information to help somebody commit a fraud... which if for profit (money or goods) is also a felony. It's actually no different from the situation above. I am giving precise details of a method to gain something by deception. Retailers circulate fraud information around their stores and manufacturers also make releases into the trade about deliberate user created faults. I have known shops refuse to exchange items they believe have been deliberately damaged to get replacement/refund. Check the small print of your local retail consumer protection laws.. you will find you are not covered in the event of deliberate damage, and there may even be a possibility of prosecution for attempting it. Basically it boils down to "once you buy something you can deliberately smash it if you want, but don't expect us to replace it if you do!"

It is quite possible now for a shop to take in one of these "usb ports broken" boxes.. straighten the bent bits.. and charge you accordingly... which they can do because under the terms of the warranty they are only liable to repair/replace for free in the event of an actual "normal use" fault, not malicious owner damage/misuse. Buying something and then changing your mind isn't grounds for a refund or exchange.
