Hi, could anyone tell me the average idle temperature of the AMD Athlon 64 daul core 5000+ processor, plus any temp ranges of this processor, from idle to full load etc, thanks. Hi, thanks for your reply, my 5000+ daul core at start up is 29 then rises to 35 to 38 using about 5% CPU usage, i world say idle is 35, does that seem high to you?
that does sound a little high. our home computer also has an athlon dual core and it idle at about 30 and load about 50. but that is because it is using a cheaper case with very little airflow. are you using the stock cooler, and how many case fans do you have? is it overclocked?
Mine is about 25 0c idle its an 4800 was about 30 0c until I put a 60mm fan blowing over it on the back of the case
i have the amd 5000+ black edition thats OCed to 2.99 with a freezer 7 cooler on it, and currently it idles around 28-31 (room temp is anywhere between 72-79; depends if the AC is on) and with full load it will get up to around 50-54. when its only using around 30% it runs around 38-42.
Hi, and thanks for all your replies, im using an akasa 90mm CPU fan which i've used before with good results, i've also tried a coolmaster 90mm CPU fan similar to the arctic freezer, i have a antec case and 500w PSU with a 120 rear mounted fan. I,m concerned it could be my motherboard, during the build when i attached either CPU cooler the bend on the motherboard was far worse then i've seen before, this is due to the extremely thin backing plate for the CPU retention bracket. There was one other odd thing during this build, i got the floppy drive connected backwards, which is easy to do but due to the case design i didn't notice the steady green light on the floppy. I didn't know this at the time of my first start up, the temperature in the bios kept rising until the motherboard reached 42 and my CPU 38, when i realised that i had got the floppy backwards i unplugged it, the motherboard temp fell to 25-29 and the CPU around 35-36. I have never had temp problems before and the floppy should not have had the effect it did on the temp, so i'm kinda lost on what could be causing my CPU higher temp.
