Hello, I recently partitioned my C drive to make a new drive P. Now i would like to format my C drive, and I was wondering if I did that would that also format my P drive? Thanks in advance.
Ok,thanks, so if i format the C drive, i can install XP back onto the C drive without any problems ? It wont install on the P drive right? Thanks.
I seem to be having problems with formatting my hard drive, i right click and press format and it says im using windows on this hard drive so it cant format, and i have searched the net but have come uo with no options on how to format the C drive with a VISTA OS. Can anyone help? Thanks.
I've never installed VISTA, but yes, you are unable to format the C:\ drive using the operating system based on the C:\ drive. Set the BIOS to boot from the CD/DVD drive. Put the system install disk in this drive, boot from it, and follow the directions. As a refinement, I usually point all my application data storage files (My Documents, Word or Open Office save locations, e-mail, etc.) on the second partition. Then I back up the 'perfect working install version' to the second partition. If the unimaginable infection strikes, I restore the 'perfect version', update the antivirus and antispyware protections, and avoid a lot of grief. You can be up and back in about 30 - 45" tops.
