I got an x-box yesterday but the media player in there is from 2003, how do I update it?

 

to update MS dashboard, i know you just put in a game that supports live... it should update automatically

 

Oh I forgot to mention it's modded... so I mean the media player that's been out since 2003 not microsoft's.

Man you answer fast I found an April 1st build, Media Center 1.1.0 is that what I'm supposed to be looking for? The other thing is that I want to connect the x-box directly to my pc with no internet connection through a crossover cable, will that work? Also, does the x-box need to be in a particular screen while you ftp to it... or does it only need to be powered on?

choose one that is closest to you.. if you already have it then you don't need to download it.. i think using a crossover cable will work.. all you need is to ftp. have you ever ftp'd?

 

which dashboard do you have evox.. unleashx.. etc

 

do you know how to add it as an application not the default dash.

get a compiled ver. of xbmc from irc, ftp to your box, put it in the e:\apps\ folder, then you can run it as an app....

 

Yeah.. just make an apps folder in the E drive

 

i downloaded the file that magamich posted but when i put it in the apps folder it does not show up on my xbox. i have a unleash x dashboard and a exox dashboard

 

KK. all you have to do is override the XboxMediaCenter.xml file, put it in the apps folder and it should work. You probably did something wrong

 

magimech I am having a similar problem. still relatively new to the game. Have Xeinium and I run EvoX for my backup games. I created an Apps folder "E:/APPS" on my HD and placed XBMC folder in there via FTP. Now I don't know how to run XBMC. Gone crazy for a couple of weeks trying to figure out how to do it by reading through a whole lot of threads. Finally I broke down and joined to be able to ask.

if it wont show up under apps, you can also look for the .xbe file with a file browser and just run it from there... try making sure that it is only one folder deep in to the apps folder...
