I just bought some sony dvd-r's and i keep getting this message, i was using retail plus dvd-r's and they worked fine. Does anyone know how to fix this? your drive needs a firmware update! the media that you are using new.... you're drive is over 4 yrs old and you have old firmware. Firmware is programming that is inserted into a programmable memory area of your drive, thus becoming a permanent part of a drive. This 'software' is called firmware and can be updated with a firmware flasher. A firmware upgrade can add new functionality to your drive. Also bug fixes and improvements are done by firmware upgrades. It also adds more media codes and write strategies to the drive to improve burning capabilities and disk recognition. Doing a firmware upgrade should only improve your drive. your firmware is old...this is the last firmware update and it might help: 1.72 install it and see if it will burn your Sony media better. Your version of Nero is buggy! Update your Nero to version 6.6.1.15a Here's how: Before udating to 6.6.1.15a save the serial #, uninstall Nero, then use the cleaning tools : http://www.nero.com/eng/support-nero6-tools-utilities.html then do a registry clean up(free registry cleaner, CClean: http://www.ccleaner.com/download/downloadpage.aspx?1) and defrag...... then reboot! update to Nero 6.6.1.15a, install Package 1 and Package 2 only: http://www.nero.com/eng/downloads-nero6-update.php reboot and you're good to go! try these updates and see if you have better results!
