I am using Imation DVD+RW, trying to burn data on them via Nero 6 (all updated. I have two Pioneer drives, DVR 108 firmware 1.18 & DVR-106D Firmware 1.07.
When I try to burn on the discs,it formats then comes uo with Illegal disc errors.

Here's the last few lines from Nero error report:

32=You are trying to burn a BD-R multisession disc with an UDF version below 2.60.\nThis is not possible. Please use UDF version 2.60 instead.
33=You are burning a disc with UDF

    Any help?
    Thanks In Advance.

What version of Nero 6 do you have?

We recommend version 6.6.0.18 here. If you don't have that version and want to install it, run the Nero 6 Clean Tool first.

    http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/us/Nero_6_CleanTool.html

Then download and install 6.6.0.18 from this link:

    Package 1: http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe
    Package 2: http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe

Try using Nero Express and select Data Disk. Did you use the Burning ROM and select one of the UDF icons in the helper window?

Updated to version .18 but still getting the illegal disc error. Nero, starts to format the disc, then as soon as it starts burning the Illegal disc window appears.
Other media works, but not these Imation discs!!

Unfortunately Imation uses a lot of different manufacturers' disks including Verbatim, Ricoh, Philips, Moser Baur and CMC Magnetcos, the last two are of dubious quality to say the least. If other brands work, it may just be these particular disks that are of strange design. It may also be the case that a firmware update will solve the problem. he history log requested by gwendolin will provide potentially useful information.

This is the only error I can see in the log, why are you formatting the disc prior to burning.

    Hi,

From your log its shows a rewriteable dvd have you had success with these before? As laddyboy stated try a different brand (i.e. verbatims) of media.

INCD is known to cause problems with burning. Run the cleantool again to remove all nero components, reboot, re-install nero [bold] do not re-stall incd [/bold]

I am assuming this is a avi file from the size so I would suggest using a cd and still burn as data.

Several things may make this happen, bad disc (sometimes less than reputable media will have a few), master and slave cables are not connected properly/ going bad (two burners might indicate you added an additional one) or the burner is going bad.

please forgive my ignorance, but can a dvd-r burner use +r disks??
    I only have one burner but is dvd+/- r/rw, dl+/- r/rw.

    Hi,

A dvd-r burner cannot burn a +r disk as they are not recognized by the firmware which tells the burner how to handle the media(usually dvd-r burners are 5 years or more older; they make -r models unless they are stand alone recorders). Your burner has all the functions you mentioned then you can burn on any quality media with the exception of dvd-ram (at least you didn't list that). I would suggest you take a look in the dvd recorder/ burner threads or the 2nd link in my signature has some info as I am no expert on specifics with burners.

    @ matt72

thank you for the clarification/education, that being my point that davidj's log shows both burners "pioneer dvd-rw", using +rw media, could this be the root of his problem?

    @davidj

possible suggestion, change booktype to dvd-rw

Just an update to some of the questions asked:

I'm not purposely formatting the discs, prior to burning. Nero is automatically doing this.
I have no problems burning other media with Nero.
Nero InCD is not affecting it, as Nero would'nt burn these discs, even before I changed my version of Nero.
I've used other DVD+RW media before, all be it different brands.
Thanks for all your ideas, people.
I'll just have to use this media in my standalone DVD Recorder, or maybe try a different program other than Nero.
