you are using Nero 6.6.0.19 ...... I don't know about your version but the more stable version of Nero 6 is 6.6.0.18:

Before udating to 6.6.0.18 I would save the serial #, uninstall Nero, then use the cleaning tools : http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/eng/Clean_Tools.html
then do a registry clean up and defrag...... then reboot!

    install package one:
    http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe
    then install package two:
    http://www.nero.com/nero6/eng/Patch_for_NVE3.html
reboot and you're good to go!

your firmware is up to date but yet it says
maybe having Roxio packet writing software on your computer:
is causing you this problem with Illegal Disc!

Uninstall Roxio or any sister programs like Sonic..... then run the Roxio Zapper:
    http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Roxio-Zap.shtml
do another registry clean up and reboot......

Also your running a little high in your RAM:
try to shut down all unnecessary programs running in the background to free up some memory! Do not multitask, go online and even shut your anti virus software while burning!

try these things and hopefully you'll have success! good luck.

thanx IHoe, I downloaded what you said, but I first tried the Roxio stuff. I uninstalled Roxio and Sonic stage and Roxio Photosuite? just to be sure. I also ran the Roxio Zap and then restarted my PC. Tried a simulated burn on a 8x Taiyo-Yuden. It worked, then I burned it, that worked. I then burned a cheap Playo 16x, it worked then, OMG, I tried a Memorex +R DL at 2.4x and it worked. So I must say THANK YOU VERY MUCH!! You were Most helpful. Just a word for others, I really think all these problem come from Roxio. Toodles!!

just to let you know....... I have both Roxio and Nero on my computer and there isn't a problem! it's packet writing...... some computers can withstand both programs on the same machine. Soooooo it's a try it and see if this is causing your problem....... this is what packet writing may do with your computer:

Packet writing utilities such as "InCD" or Roxio are notorious for interfering with burn processes, as the way it works is to continually poll the burner to check for new media. This prevents the burn application gaining exclusive access to the burner, and sense code errors will happen - every time. Get rid of all packet writing utilities. They are more trouble than they are worth.

soooooooo some computers can take it others can't! if taking out Roxio helped your computer....... then cool! I'm glad it helped you!

I don't fully understand the Packet writing thing, but thanks again.
