I zapped Roxio using Roxio Zapper. I upgraded my media and I'm still getting the illegal disk message. Attached is the error message I received: Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: - ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Nero\Nero 7\Core\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.74, size=164112 bytes, created 11/2/2004 12:54:32 PM NT-SPTI used Nero API version: 7.5.9.0 Using interface version: 6.3.1.4 Installed in: C:\Program Files\Nero\Nero 7\Core\ Application: ahead\Nero - Burning Rom Internal Version: 7, 5, 9, 0 Recorder: <_NEC DVD+-RW ND-6500A> Version: 2.24 - HA 1 TA 0 - 7.5.9.0 Adapter driver: <IDE> HA 1 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ? === Scsi-Device-Map === DiskPeripheral : HTS726060M9AT00 atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : _NEC DVD+-RW ND-6500A atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: On === CDRom-Device-Map === _NEC DVD+-RW ND-6500A D: CDRom0 ======================= AutoRun : 1 Excluded drive IDs: WriteBufferSize: 74448896 (0) Byte BUFE : 0 Physical memory : 511MB (523476kB) Free physical memory: 308MB (316380kB) Memory in use : 39 % Uncached PFiles: 0x0 Use Inquiry : 1 Global Bus Type: default (0) Check supported media : Disabled (0) 15.12.2006 NeroAPI 4:23:10 PM #1 Phase 112 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 282 DVD-Video files reallocation started 4:23:10 PM #2 Phase 114 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 282 DVD-Video files reallocation completed (no file modified) 4:23:10 PM #3 Phase 111 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 282 DVD-Video files sorted 4:23:11 PM #4 Text 0 File SCSIPTICommands.cpp, Line 411 LockMCN - completed sucessfully for IOCTL_STORAGE_MCN_CONTROL 4:23:11 PM #5 Text 0 File AudioCompilationImpl.cpp, Line 838 DRM: StartDrmRecording(RealRec:1, ImageRec:0, Copies:1) DRM: Beginning burn process. 4:23:11 PM #6 ISO9660GEN -11 File Geniso.cpp, Line 3332 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 4:23:11 PM #7 ISO9660GEN -11 File Geniso.cpp, Line 3332 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 4:23:11 PM #8 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 3451 Turn on Disc-At-Once, using DVD media 4:23:12 PM #9 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 306 Last possible write address on media: 2298495 (510:46.45, 4489MB) Last address to be written: 2286127 (508:01.52, 4465MB) 4:23:12 PM #10 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 318 Write in overburning mode: NO 4:23:12 PM #11 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 2903 Recorder: _NEC DVD+-RW ND-6500A, Media type: DVD-R Disc Manufacturer: MCC 03 - RG20 Disc Application Code: 64, Disc Physical Code: 193 4:23:12 PM #12 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 490 >>> Protocol of DlgWaitCD activities: <<< ========================================= 4:23:12 PM #13 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 821 Setup items (after recorder preparation) 0: TRM_DATA_MODE1 () 2 indices, index0 (150) not provided original disc pos #0 + 2286128 (2286128) = #2286128/508:1.53 relocatable, disc pos for caching/writing not required/ required -> TRM_DATA_MODE1, 2048, config 0, wanted index0 0 blocks, length 2286128 blocks [D: _NEC DVD+-RW ND-6500A] -------------------------------------------------------------- 4:23:12 PM #14 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 1024 Prepare [D: _NEC DVD+-RW ND-6500A] for write in CUE-sheet-DAO DAO infos: ========== MCN: "" TOCType: 0x00; Hi frekcles Can't see to much wrong here. Looks like you still have some of Nero 6 left - Nero API version: 7.5.9.0 Using interface version: 6.3.1.4 But that may not be not playing into this error. Still a clean install is a good idea. So uninstall Nero, run the CleanTool. Reboot then run a registry cleaner like the free ccleaner. Use the cleaner and issues options. Now reinstall Nero. Laptop burner? Not always the best by far. Take the burn speed down to 4x. Try another burning program too. ImgBurn is a good free one. Use the build mode and add this video_ts folder to burn. ImgBurn will also give a log. Just press 'L' before you begin. Try that and let us know.
Are you running MusicMatch Jukebox? I have always found that MMJB installs several files to Windows start up that will cause illegal disk errors with Nero. You can disable these memory resident modules of MMJB by going to "start", selecting "run" then typing "msconfig" and "OK". Select the Startup tab from the msconfig window and uncheck all modules for MMJB. Then apply. When you re-boot, you will get a message from Windows asking if you want to undo the changes. Check the box that says something like "Do not show me this again" and "OK."
