I would first like to thank whomever is responsible for this site. It is people like you that make this a better world to live in.
Now, I have been tyring to copy a movie for a few weeks now while closely following the guides I found on this site. I managed to use the dvd shrink and got the files onto my computer. When I then try to use Nero it starts the copying process by formatting the disk but then failes due to "Illegal disk".
I have a Sony dru 500A and I tryed using both the dvd rw that was provided with the drive and the memorex dvd+r x4. I have also updated my firmware (which I am not really sure what it does) but it did not make any difference.
    I would appreciate any help.
    Thanks
    Yonatan

dvd shink should interface with nero automatically, and unless you are using a dvd rw, should not format the disc. Are you selecting the burner as your "target drive" in before DVD Shrink starts? Also, what version of Nero are you using?

Nero does start copying automatically but I get the same message. The burner is selected as my target drive. I am using nero burning ROM 6.

Anydvd is a good software that works well with nero.
I found that it was well worth the $39.95 investment.

DVD shrink is working fine. I have the movie on my computer ready to burn. The problem is when I start Nero (or when it is started automatically through DVD shrink) it runs through a few processess and then stoppes telling me "illegal disk" and telling me that burning has failed at 2.4x. Following is part of the log that appears.

The disc may be shot. Have you tried using a new RW?

the rw is the new rw I received with the dvdrom.
I also tried burning on a memorex dvd+r 4x and I received the same message.

have you had any luck getting the burner to burn using another type of burning software (other than nero)? If not, than it might just be a bad burner, and I would see if there is a chance to return or exchange it.

I have burned regular music cd's and data cd's. What would be the next best program to use other than nero?

The next best program would probably be Alcohol 120%. I have not used this one personally, but have heard lots of good results. If you were able to burn other type of data using Nero, it is probably not the burning engine that is causing the problem.

Using DVD Decrypter might also be worth a try (it's free, and interfaces with shrink also).
