This goes out to anyone (or gtrman if you can help). I just bought the 05 yesterday mainly to burn my home movies from my camcorder via the DV link. So far, I have successfully burned 2 for 2. However, after I finalize a disc (DVD+R), I'm not able to change title options. Secondly, I'm not able to see chapter thumbnails. I was able to do this PRIOR to finalizing, but after I finalized my second disc, I could only pull up the title button and basically play the DVD. Is this a known flaw with the product? Is there a fix available for DVD+R to allow one to edit titles after a disk has been finalized? I'd love to hear from y'alls experiences and your input.
No. Once a +R disk is finalized You can no longer record, edit or do anyhing to it, even if not full Thumbnails should be there for each recording. I use +RW disk's, they do not require finalizing. They can be edited, erased. reused. Your reference to chapter thumbnails is unclear
I have not researched the R05 yet but have heard that it does have both Title and Chapter thumbnail menus, unlike most DVD recorders. I will check it out.
Guitarman If the 05 can create thumbnails in chapters,Its an undocumented function. Than some 05 owners report functions not in the manual I had an 05 for a short time but did not try this.
When you press "TITLE" after burning, you can rename a title, erase disc, view chapters, and rename "disc label." When you select the "view chapters" icon, it pulls up the chapters via thumbnail image. However, you CANNOT provide a name of a chapter, but rather a title only. Titles basically are how many times you hit stop and then record again. Chapters are within each title. The player also creates "autochapters" every 5, 10, or 15 minutes, depending on what you want. So far, I'm pretty pleased with the recorder. I'm 8 for 8 with no coasters and have about 30 more movies to burn!! I use the +R, as opposed to the +RW, as I don't want to chance erasing these precious moments with my wife and kids.
txrphguy, It sounds like the R04 in that respect then. Before finalizing, you can change the title and edit chapter points but you can not name chapter point and they do not show up on a seperate menu.
