Has anyone sent back a dvdr04 to factory on a RMA which has the firmware hacked? My unit stops at the HELLO display. I e-mailed ILO for any solution that I could apply to the unit to fix it. Their reply was that I needed to e-mail my serial number to them and they would check to verify that it was under warranty. I'm very reluctant to sent it. I'm not concerned about losing the unit if they decide to keep it or not repair it. Is it possible to salvage the burner and perhaps place it in a computer? If I choose to send it, what would be the end result or response from factory? I would appreciate any speculation. Thanks, reblack
I honestly dont know what ilo is, but I doubt that ya will lose it. They will send ya a new one. When I rma'd a drive to samsung...I called them and asked what was wrong with it. They blatantly just told me that they dont check it...they just slap a new one in the box and ups as soon as they get ya old obe. So I would guess ilo was the same. I doubt they will check it. They will just send ya a new one when they recieve the old one. Dont stress it. Or reflash the drive back to the original if ya that scared....:>
ozzy214, thank you for the reply. The unit does not respond at all, the tray will not open or close from the remote or unit. will only turn on or off. no way to reflash. I tend to agree to the change out without checking it.thanks again, reblack
[ reblack ] Did you buy the ilo at WalMart, if so do you have a receipt. That will supercede any serial # [1 Year] If not, or even if you do and over a year, take it to WalMart, say you lost the receipt and want it fixed to work properly. They will most likely offer to exchange it, but will most likely be an 05 model. The 04 and 05 are not the same. For my use I would rather have the 04, and have it repaired. The 05 has has two models the ZU and MU. Get the MU If you are not concerned abou this unit. I would be intrested in it. Send PM
