I've had this recorder since August 2005 and lately, it has been giving me problems. I purchased new DVD-RW disks. When I place them in the recorder and am prompted to format it, once it reaches somewhere between 20 - 40% I receive a message stating that the disk is incompatable. I've kept this piece of equipment unplugged for at least a month - attempted to try it again and unable to troubleshoot.

Are the DVD-RW of a different media type than the ones you used at first? And are they rated at a faster speed than the ones you used first?

The DVD-RW disks I purchased are from a different maker (TDK vs Maxell). The TDK disks are the same speed as the Maxell I had used initially.

Thank you - I'll double check the disk type.

My MU1 works fine with (-) discs.
