I have tried all the +r disks on the compatible list except ritek with all being shown as "no disk". do I need an update ? the back of the unit and the manual does not have mu or zu listed. how do I find which one I have. I bought it Feb. this year.
A quick check shows the support site for that model is non-existent. http://www.ilohelp.com/ refers to http://www.iloservice.com/ for that model, and that site does not exist. Sounds like a scuzzy manufacturer. In any case, Ritek is garbage media and it's doing you a favor by not taking it, especially Ritek G05. Use Verbatim or media that's Made in Japan e.g. Taiyo Yuden.
I would gather that you are having problems with disk recognition If so A dirty laser or some other minor problems can exist. In my opinion the Best way Is to remove the case cover and than the DVDdrive Cover ( held by four small screws. You may want to try a lenz cleaner first. No offence.I donot know the extent of your ability. Any problems can exist but the 05 is not (for my use) worth time and money/ I do keep them for parts or repair if possable. The 05 was made by Cyberhome and is the same as the Cyberhome 1600 or the 1200 that is without DV input If purchased in Feb 06 it is most likely ls a mu1 unless it was OLD stock. The lable on the back should have the Model # and and zu, mu or mu1 after it. The zu was a bummer as many features were missing. The latest firmware is avail at cyberhome web site Regardles of firmware the units should burn and play a disk. This DOES NOT Require a firmware change. I mostly use Verbatim but have used Ritek (a favorite of many) and other brands without problems. If you want to go the repair route, Check these other sites also. http://www.techolio.com/ http://www.normediasolutions.com/portfolio/ For Info I have two 05, a cyberhome 300 and one 1600 not working at present (a defective mainbord) They are used for play only as they will play practically anything and + or - R/RW disks They will record + or - disks very well butI use my LiteOn/ilo units (four) for this Many units do not like +R disks but especially +RW even newer ones. The Cyberhome as said will play anything and do it well and cheap Good Luck and let us know how it works out
Glad you spotted that. I misread and thought he was only having a problem with Riteks. Sorry, my bad.
I`ve cleaned my own and my childrens cd players, cdroms, cdr/rw drives, dvd players etc, for several years. my problem is with disk recognition. I have now tried -dvdr with the same "no disk" error. I can record perfectly on any dvdrw media. where do I go from here ?
Unfortunately, if you've cleaned the laser/lens, I'm not sure what else there is to do, except record on a RW and transfer that to regular DVD for permanent storage. At least, that's fairly easy, especially if the Ilo records in DVD-Video format to begin with.
that is the conclusion I came to also but still hoped a better solution could be found. thanks for your help.
i went to wm for information and they gave this working number to call. 1-800-216-5156. i`m still on hold and will post more later.
finally got through. person said i reached the wrong department and gave me two more numbers to call. first one said the tellephone and email service are not available. second one gave their new number of 510-824-0077 and refered me to visit their website www.ilohelp.com. i am not going to call long distance to a company that may not be in buisness any longer. tryed the website and to no one`s surprise, it is for the 04 models with a link to the Non existant www.iloservice.com for the 05 models. i did find that i have the zu modle. went to Cyberhome website, downloaded the two updates. the loader updated perfectly, the firmwarejust sits ther showing Zoran.
