ILO DVDRHD04 Firmware problem

I burned the Firmware to a CD as directed, put it in the ILO and it says it is reading it. The data light comes on and it sounds as if the disc is spinning but nothing ever comes up on screen. I tried turning the unit off for a few seconds and it comes back up that it is reading it. Am I just not waiting long enough? How long does it usually take? I even burned a couple more cd's and tried them and it still does the same thing, 3 lights light up and it sounds as if its spinning. Any suggestions?

Yes, I did all that. I was wondering if any on screen messages appear? Does it take a long time? I left the CD in the machine just in case but nothing. No on screen messages, just reading CD, but it doesn't kick out the CD? I followed all the instructions but nothing happens? Should I see on screen prompts after loading CD or does the ILo just show Reading CD then thats it? I followed all instructions to a T.

It will pop up a message about doing the up grade it takes a couple of minutes I also noticed that on a couple i had to push play to get it started also you might want to try a different brand of cds..

other than that the only thing you could try is a lens cleaner on the dvd drive

If You copied the firmware correctly it should work.

Take a brand new CD -R disk [ or a CD- RW disk ] and use a proper burner [I use Cheetah many use Nero with no problems]
Select the proper firmware [Hacked or not, your choice] for the ilo RHD04 which you say you have. from this site
    http://ncc2315.com/ilo/.
Make sure that the firmmware is the only thing on the disk and is a complete file.
If the disk is a +R it must be finalized. Sometimes a burner will fail to finalize a disk and it will not work. The ilo is [in my opinion] famous for indicating it is recording when it is not.
You should see a message that the unit has recognized the file as a firmware file and ask if you want to procede
I use a CD- RW that is not finalized and have had no problems

yes i had that problem also at first if u use the iso image to make the cd it will do that. i used the plane file. u click on the title and it will download the file only. use ez cd creator or something to burn it onto the cd and label doenent matter the disk will work perfect i used a dvd+rw

Ok, not to sound like a dummy, but what do you mean by the plane title not the ISO image? There is only one place to click on to download the firmware? Or am I missing something? I downloaded it as a file and then burned it onto a CD-R and it ejects the disc after it is done. I rebooted the ISO DVD recorder as instructed and nothing happens although I can hear the disc spinning and it says "reading data file" then nothing. I even left the download in overnite and nothing. I will try burning it onto a DVD-RW. Thanks for the Info.

What site are you getting the firmware from
Check that the downloaded file and burned file matches the original in size etc.

What burner make, are are you using, what software, what speed?
Use 4X as a max, 2x if you have to. some have burned at max speed,8x or more and got a bad file.

I have 2 RHD04 units. Have downloaded from this site http://ncc2315.com/ilo/
Using Cheetah as a burner software and a no name burner from a Compaq computer, with 4x as a max speed. I have not had one problem

I say this to indicate that the entire process works if done correctly
AND THE MACHINE IS OPERATING CORRECTLY.

IF the unit is not, it may be because of a failed firmware upgrade. If so I would advise you contact ilo [BY PHONE] for instructions. If its determined that the unit is defective you may have to RMA it.

PS--- If you contact ilo, Make sure you indicate that any firmware came from ther site otherwise they may try to blame a problem on that.

MAKE SURE THAT THE ONLY FILE ON ANY DISK +R OR +RW IS THE {ONLY} FILE ON THE DISK.IF A +R IT {MUST} BE FINALIZED.
