I am just wondering if the liteon DVD/HDD LVW5045 is the same unit as the ilo HDDR04?
I know that the the ilo is all liteon internals and the LVW5007 burner is the same as the DVDR04 burner.
What do you think Craz Canuk, got any ideas?
Is anyone familiar with this unit?
    Thanx

Hi again !!!, the HD04 is the "baby brother" of the 5045 that was sent to a foster home!. Half the size and not all features. The 5045 is an "all-write" recorder (811 or 851 Liteon burner, can't remember exactly, with all features turned on) it does DVD+ and -, also writes on CDs for SVCD and VCD recordings, the HD04 only does DVD+, (451 Liteon burner with features turned off). In 2004, Walmart contracted Liteon to build cheap Single and HD models and rebadged them into their iLO brand, Liteon produced the R04 and HD04. In 2005, Walmart dropped Liteon and contracted with Cyberhome to produce 2 Single disc recorders (MU R05 and ZU R05), these are clones of the Cyberhome 1600, no HD models in 2005. The 5045 is a discontinued model, between the HD04 and the 5045, I would suggest to get the 5045, has proven to be way more stable than the HD04, well at least the burner is.

    Awesome feedback Craz Canuk..
Is there a upgraded firmware disc that I can get for this unit (5045)?
I've looked around on E-Bay and don't seem to find anything...I really do want the Disc instead of just a Download so that down the road in case anything happens I can just put the disc back in and reprogram it like I had to do with my ilo before....
    Thanx for keeping in touch

Hi again, read your other thread on the 5045, you will need to download and burn your firmware disc anyways to insert in the recorder, so you will have your disc. I would suggest to use version 197 for the 5045 as higher version were reported as problematic (hack didn't work properly, some features running amock and so on). I left a link on the other thread for you to go to where all the info on what and how to burn is available.

    I have both machines.
[Craz Canuk] Is mostly correct The machines have a different face but are the same size The DVD drive in my 5045 was a 813s but is now a 1693s. While the 04 is a 4x drive and the 5045 an 8x [now a 16x] I see no real difference in copy time. The 04 HDD is 80gb the 5045 160gb. For more info on these machines go here

    For a Hack and info

The files for the firmware upgrade are very easy and work fine You should be able to burn a disk with no problem and have it

Take a look at my post at your last thread I don’t mean to offend anyone. For a specific purpose I do not feel a 04 or 5045 can be bested. However both machines can be, shall I say cranky and react weird to certain button presses. You have to know the machine before you blame it for screwing up.

As Craz Crank says use 197 on the 5045

    EDIT
I would recomend the 5045 but geting one of these can be a problem, same for the RHD04. Also be aware that many could have problems especially the DVD drive. While there is no HDD and limited editing The R04 can be turned into a LiteOn 5005x that has AllWrite and will burn -DVD and cd but has no hack. It can be returned to a R04 with hack, very easly

Yeah that is what I am looking for....What drive do I need to replace with in my ilo DVDR04 to make it all write and also to hack it????
I know that you can change out the drive to a DDW813S to read all DVDR+.
Does anyone know at least where I can get that drive for the time being???
I am tired of having to just use a couple DVD manufactures of DVDR+'s..
Mine will only accept Memorex and Office Depot....If you don't mind turning me on to the way to do this HERB I would appreciate it and where to find the drive for the R04 to turn it into the 5005X...
    Thanx
