    Sounds like a good candidate for a return/exchange

    I've heard of people having to return several ilo units before they got a good one ...fortunately, WallyMart is good about returns/exchanges

    I Mean No Offence

    The 04 is a +R or +RW only machine. The fact that uou oqiginaly used a - disk and have a manual that you can not interpet correctly, would indicate that you may by unaware of the 04 operation.
    Setting the chapter marks should have No Effect on the Recording Time
    and you will get a New Title thumbnail {not chapters} for each recording.
    I have 2 RHD04 units. 1 is a year old both work fine, they are a good unit but have their quirks. So do others.

    Go to this site

    http://www.ilohelp.com/download1.htm

    Download the English Version of the Operating Manual and go through it before you return the unit.
    Depending on your use I would get a HDD unit if you can, the [RHD04]. The R04 has limited edditing. {I would say None}
    The 04 is made by LiteOn. If the price difference is close the LiteOn 5045 {Bigger HDD and will use - disks} is most likely a better choice.

    PS ---- The download file is in a zip format and the Manual itself is in Adobe [pdf} format. You will have to have both the Zip and Adobe programs. If not you can download both for free use.
