9mmruger, I follwed you suggestions as best I could. I am not sure that the firmware download is right. The firmware index had various choices (1.06, 1.08, 1.09etc). Here is the log file that was created after trying to "IMPORT" one of the 5 movies now on my HD. Also, when I downloaded the NERO updates (you need to install 2 packages(4 hours on dial up)) a window came up saying that " It could not install because another version was running, and to close that application then go to reinstall) There was nothing running at the time except for my online provider software. This is so darn frustrating! It was working just fine for 2 years. I had replaced HD before. But now I replaced HD, reinstalled everything and now this. Could this have anything to do with; I had ANYDVD on the HD, it expired, then I started having spyware problems so I reinstalled my Windows XP, thinking it would clean everything off, but after windows was done, all the icons I had were there still. I have removed and reinstalled; Shrink, Nero, and decryptor 3 times now. How can I test my Burner? It gets used quite a lot, My boyfriend uses it for a game.

And if that isn't complicated enough. I do not know the jargon. I have movies on the HD, but I do not know how to burn them to disc now. What is "disc-at-once? I usually just insert the "blank disc" after shrink encodes, and then it burns. EASY. but now it just saves them in my cdrive. What is the "for dummies" version for burning the movies on HD to disc?

I'll put $50 into the pot to hire a team of thugs to find anyone making/distributing spyware/MALWARE and beat the sht out of them.

A few things that I see:

Latest version is 6.6.0.18 Way behind.

firmware way behind. Should be the latest update. You may have to upgrade in steps til all are installed.

Okay, but I would recommend a memory upgrade.

Set your target size to 4300 so that you do not burn too close to the edge of the disc.

One of the worse media types that you can buy. You can often get quality media for the same price. Go to Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Maxell or Sony (made in Japan)

I think that the firmware and media and older nero is giving you fits. I would do what it takes to update those issues and try again.

Not being a nero user though I certainly could be missing something else. Others will pipe in shortly.

Cheers. Hope you get this worked out quickly. I know how frustrating things of this nature can be.

    2 serial numbers removed :)

    - 4464MB is burning too close to outer edge of discs. can't remember where the setting is that lets you specify the target size. you should set that to 4300MB thus not burning to outer edge of discs

    - Nero's too old, latest 6.x version is 6.6.0.18, download "update package 1" from here - http://ww2.nero.com/enu/nero-up.php

    - burner's firmware is a few versions out of date, 1.0A is here - http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1740

    - CMC are some of the most atrocious utter rubbish dvd media there is. get decent media (see my sig), and glance at my sig for reasons not to use CMC media

    - see previous comment

Creaky, 9mmruger, why would my current set up just stop working? I understand that some of my stuff is out of date, but it was working a couple of weeks ago. Nero burns cds fine, but I am using my CD burner for this.
